About 5 years ago my county, which is in a very rural part of PA, started public transportation. The problem is that the city cant do that either. They never make any money and consistantly run a deficit of over $2 million, but the state picks up the tab. They dont fire anyone, dont cut back on benefits, and dont cut back on their service. Now my employees are talking of unionizing. How can I compete with the govt? How can I compete with a bunch of idiots running a bus company that has nearly unlimited funding and doesnt care how much money they lose? My rates are better, my people are friendlier, and my buses are on time. Ive heard many stories about elderly cancer patients being stuck at the hospital because the city bus just didnt show up for one of their trips into the city. Thats just inexcusible. But, how can I, or anyone else, compete with them despite all their screwups? Its like Im just buying time until they run me out.

I work in the security/network installation business. I have a job offer to think about but I dont know enough about it to make a decision. It is a company that buys up large buildings and makes them "green", installing solar panels and such to make them energy efficient. Here is where I am confused. They want me to start my own LLC through them instead of hiring me straight up. I would get my own company name, truck, and client list through them. They plan on hiring help for me through them and are setting me up with their legal team to assist me with taxes and such. I am required to work 40 hrs through them, and after that I am welcome to do work for anyone else I choose since I am a subcontractor. Does anyone out there know anything about this? Ive never owned my own business. What about insurance, such as my personal medical and dental, and do I need to get accident insurance or anything? Any info would really help. if you want to report it on your taxes and be able to purchase items wholesale, then yes. You will need a federal tax ID number (FEIN) which you can obtain online at www.irs.gov you will also need a state sales tax certificate, which you can get through your state website. You tax guy can help fill out the paperwork for that. Another important form is your home business license which is issued by your county offices. You will need to contact them to see what requirements they have for home businesses. Look up your county website for more info. Good luck!

I think Logitech screwed my since they recently changed rebate providers since the old one had "financial difficulties." I originally mailed my rebate to their old provider since their address was on the form at the time.Anyway, called up Logitech and they gave me a fax number to send over the copied documents and heres where my question is: I have everything including a dated receipt, but I dont have any proof of postmarked-dated material. Do some people go so far as to physically buy prepost-marked stamps and then take a picture of it on the envelope showing the actual date before sending it off?Have you had problems with post-marking and resubmissions?
