Im in a little bit of a bad situation. I lost my job several months ago and Im being denied unemployment benefits. I have no car and no money. I live five miles outside of a town with a population of 1000 where there are no businesses that are currently hiring. Ive managed to bum rides and have checked up on all the businesses in surrounding towns as well, but the problem is the same --- none of them are currently hiring either. Even if I do happen to find a job, Im still faced with the problem of having no realistic way to get there everyday. So, Ive come to the conclusion that maybe I should start a business and work from home. Ive put a good deal of thought into it and have come up with some good ideas about what kind of goods that business would provide. I know my ideas are sound and I know that, as long as I keep my nose to the grindstone, the business I have in mind will be successful. But again, I have no money to get it started. Im thinking a government grant may be the answer. What I need to know is (1), is this particular grant offer legitimate, and (2), if its not, how can I check the legitimacy of other such offers in the future? http://www.grantsforyounow.com/default.a...Thanks, and have a great day..--Answer1:There are no government grants to start a business except in very specific, usually research-related fields. NEVER believe anybody that tells you they can get you a grant..--Answer2:NO! That is *not* a legitimate grant offer in any way, shape, or form. All sites like that do is sell you a book or a CD containing the same information thats available for free from legitimate government Web sites -- and if you go to the Web sites, you will discover that in truth there is very little, if any, government money available for individuals. Even if you go to the SBA, youll find that funding for startups is extremely limited and you have to meet some very stringent requirements to get it.Heres the actual government site where you can find out FOR FREE and with NO SCAMS exactly what government benefits exist:http://grants.gov/Heres a similar, equally legitimate site:http://www.govbenefits.gov/govbenefits_e...And heres where to get information about starting your own business, if youre qualified:http://sba.gov/See the similarities there? All the *real* sites that tell you about government programs and grants end in dot-gov, NOT dot-com..--Answer3:These grant websites are all SCAMS!Contrary to what they want you to believe, the government doesnt give money to individuals to pay debt, pay bills or almost any other reason. The vast majority of grants go to non-profit organizations. The government does have their own website:www.grants.gov.--Answer4:save your cash. this is a pipe dream. you can learn what grants to apply for online for free.Outrider.--Answer5:Government rants have been blown wide open by the Obama stimulus plan.
