Ebay, shipping problem, from sellers perspective, USPS

Sent item out several weeks ago. Buyer finally emails and says he hasnt received it.Sent Priority with delivery confirmation.USPS site shows it processed the same day I sent it, "no further info available". So I am in contact with both USPS.com and also called the local post office, where it was mailed from, who is going to contact the post office it was mailed to.Main question is; if it doesnt show up somehow, I dont think USPS will pay a claim, not unless i had it insured, is this correct, they can just lose stuff (or post office delivery person steals it or whatever) and they can just tell me to get lost? Waiting to hear back from someone at USPS, but wondering whats going to happen here..--Answer1:USPS wont refund you or give you anything unless you purchased insurance, but its well worth it to give a try or at least find out where the item is. If it was an inexpensive item then Id suggest going ahead and refunding the customer and just counting it as a loss, since its likely that a customer item not received dispute is in your future. eBay policy trumps seller policy so youre responsible for getting the item to the buyer in the condition that it was described. So, youll end up refunding if they file a dispute unless youre dealing with a newbie buyer who doesnt know the refund ropes..--Answer2:How long is several weeks? This time of year can be crazy. If it is not delivered by 30 days from end of auction, you should refund your buyer. The time limit for the buyer to file the INR dispute is 45 days, if Im not mistaken..--Answer3:That is why I only ship via UPS. Everything is automatically insured for $100 and tracking is quick and correct.
