What is the best method for bookkeeping for a small internet based business

Hi,I am starting up a website business from home and money will be largely generated via advertising and also through customers paying to place classified ads. What method should I adopt for bookkeeping i.e. a spreadsheet or some sort of software? What kind of information would I need to record for this type of business specifically?Any help would be much appreciated.Kind regards,Tim
Answer1:The only way you will succeed is to give yourself a regiment of time that you must use for up-dating and for keeping on top of your game.Too many times people have good intentions and then fail to keep their pages up to date and end up loosing all they had gained and hoped for. There is nothing more disappointing than to be interested in a web page only to find out that the owner has not up-dated it for a year.
Answer2:try: http://www.businessempiremag.comthey have a lot of useful information related to business that should answer your questions.

How do i start a web based small business

how do i go about it...tell me everything i would need to know..pleazzzzzz=) is this a good idea with the recession and all???
Answer1:I am also in the same boat since many years. You can find good and useful work at home opportunities at 10000permonth.net and globalcashsite.comYou can contact me for help and I will share my experience with you and help you to start your own home business.RegardsGCS
Answer2:Certainly, theres probably no easier way to make money than to sell something online.Obviously, you will need a Web Host and I can highly recommend Host Gator as a cheap and highly respected company to host your website. Good luckRegardsRob.
      Answer3:buy domain-http://domainforsell.info/
Answer4:you must visit www.tripleclicks.com.......... i hav got a job there......u may find one too ......it is easy ...all the training are given by them themselves... so no starting trouble 4 sure
Answer5:Actually starting a new business in the recession is the best thing you can ever do. Most successful entrepreneurs and companies started out in the recession . It is as simple as that; If you make it successfully through the recession you will make it any time. My best recommendation to you is to setup an online store of some sort and sell products or services. A good place to start is eBay or Amazon. Focus you attentions on things that will work long term. Try to build a business that is unique and offers a new thing to the table.
Answer6:It is very easy to do. I am assuming you would create a sole proprietorship (1 person company, you are the only owner), so no tax work would be required. You would just put the business earnings straight onto your income tax statement.First you need to decide what you want to sell. It can be anything online. I was reading about a guy who started off buying and repairing old swords and then reselling them, now he makes over $30,000 a month in profits with his business. Finding something unique or a niche area is definitely a good place to start with an online business. Next you will want to think of a name for your business. This in many cases is one of the hardest areas when starting a business. You want something that is on topic, has a nice ring, and is catchy. After you decide on the name, go about buying a website domain. You can do that a number of places like godaddy or 1&1. Next, you will want to find a website host. Do not go cheap here. A host is one of the most important aspects to an online business. If you pick a lousy host, your site will be down quite a bit and you will not receive the traffic that you intended. So, research hosts quite vigorously, so you do not end up with a bad one. After that, you will want to create your website. I would recommend having somebody else build it for you. This can be done for as little as $100 online, or maybe cheaper if you know a friend who is good at that sort of thing. You want it to look professional. Remember, when shopping online, the website is the most important aspect of the business, and if it looks bad or cheap, you may lose business. A good tip for increasing your business traffic when up and running is to subscribe to Google AdWords. For as little as a $100 a month, you can buy the rights to certain key word searches. This will greatly increase your sites traffic, and will usually pay for itself if done properly.Basically, that is it. List your products on your website and good luck.

I want to have a small starter kids inflatable jumper business

I searched online and I cant find where I can buy it? theyre all for rentals.lets say I bought 4 of them will it be enough for a start.and should I need a permit for that?
Answer1:you can try google or yahoo and type inflatables or inflatable manufacturing companies. See if that helps
Answer2:Regardless of the type or number of jumbers or bounce houses you have, you may need a permit, if anything, a business license as you are collecting money from the government. Some other advice is to make sure that you purchase jumpers that are made for what you are doing. They must be commercial grade in order to last and to help prevent injuries reducing your liabilities. Ask the vendors with whom you talk about product liability insurance and etc to protect yourself

What steps would I take to open a small business where I cook for the elderly

My husband and I live in a retirement rich area. We are young (27), professional individuals both with full time jobs but would like to start a business where we cook for the elderly/retired in the evenings. We can make food for the week, or food for the night, etc. We would have a variety of options. We have a lot of ideas but basically would love to hear advice from other business owners about how to get started, etc. Thanks so much!!! :)
Answer1:Before you do anything else check with the local Health Department and see what their requirements are in regards to facilities, equipment, procedures and personnel.Next, do some research and try to determine the size of the market for the type of service you are planning on providing and how much people would be willing to pay. Another thing to consider is that most new businesses have a negative cash flow so you should both keep your daytime jobs until the business starts bringing in more than it pays out.If it still looks like an attractive business opportunity go for it.Hope this helpsJerry-the-bookkeeper
Answer2:There are a lot of steps but none are overly complicated. Planning, research, adequate financial resources, and a personality that is compatible in having an income that is based on factors you can control and many factors you can not control is a must.First determine if there is a need? Just because you think there is a need doesnt mean there really is a need. If there is a need what is the average $ amount the prospective clients will be willing to pay? After that is determined. Make some test dinners within that price point and get feedback from prospective clients. As a rough guideline (not Knowing the food business) a 50% gross profit bench mark is a good place to start your price point. Find out what other food businesses gross profit margin is. The smaller the business the higher the GPM must be.I would suggest you have an income other than the business for period of at least a year. Once you start develop a cash reserve of 3 months cost of doing business. Limit borrowing to no more than 30% of your total assets. Take some small business classes. Learn how to read a balance sheet. Understand the importance of gross profit, break even points, quick ratio. Become an expert in marketing, business financial manager, and production management.Good luck - this could very well be the funnest thing you ever do.

Planning to start a small business in the near future

A friend and I have identified a need for certain products in the metro region in which we live.. Were confident that we can be successful in this market, which has a huge population base and demand for these products that is not being satisfied.. The problem is were both in grad school and taking programs unrelated to business or this industry. We dont have anything more than a general business background..We do have a little experience working in this industry, and also contacts that have experience..What do we need to do to make this dream a reality in the next 3-5 years? Im thinking start working and collecting start up capital, and also taking a few business courses and researching this market..Is this a good plan, and is it doable? Do we need more than 3-5 years to pull this off? What are the chances of success for two college kids?
Answer1:Have you heard of that guy who created the `ATTITUDE` T-Shirt business? Peoples` didn`t like his attitude or criticize about his attitude. There he has got his name for his business and he has been doing well. All businesses have got risks. Usually, peoples` don`t do any bus sines that they are not sure of. I`ve never do any businesses before. I do not think that I can help you much.
Answer2:go for it, if you dont, youll kick yourself when you see somebody else doing the same thing.Setting up a business is easier than ever now, If your working within a community then word of mouth could be your greatest asset here.I think its a great idea, if you get in contact with me ill pass on to you a link for a website that has helped me a great deal. It has step by step advice for each aspect of setting up a business.anyway, good luck with whatever you decide to do and keep at it.Michael D

Just started a small business and need some direction

Iam a Computer Technician and Im just starting out helping people fixing there computers from home. Because I just cant find regular work, I dont know how much I should charge the customer for getting there computers fixed. The last customer I charged her $20 to look at the computer about $20 for parts and labor. How much should I charge to fix pcs and laptops? and realize this is only part time just to make a little money until I find a job.
Answer1:I think you are undercharging your services. If you look on sites such as craigslist and gumtree, typically it costs about $50 to get someone to help reinstall software and other menial tasks and more if there is a hardware issue that requires hardware replacement it will cost at least 75 dollars. It costs more when you go to places like circuit city and best buy. To make your services more attractive you can advertise on such sites and also make sure the amount of time that you use to fix the computers are less than one would have to wait if one was to go to circuit city. Good luck!!
Answer2:Dear Frend!!you should take into account that how much is ur transportation charges, if u go for fixing the problem of individuals who are far away from u.furthermore, u should ask other technicians that how much they charge for fixing the same problem.then u shuld fix a price for urself that this amount should i charge to persons who are near and this amount should i charge to those who are far away.

SMALL BUSINESS ADVICE How do I go to market with just one product

I have a manufactured a luxury kitchen product but it is the only one I have as of yet. Who do I approach first? Will my company be taken seriously with just one product. I know Microsoft only had one when they started but that was for a mass market and mine is niche.I would like to sell it through retailers globally rather than directly from my site as I only have one product. Any sound business advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance
Answer1:what about going on Dragons Den or visiting their website
Answer2:With only one product to sell, its easier for you to focus on that as your niche. By using the power of the web to market, you can start working on getting your site to rank under keywords directly related to your product, and people searching for it will be able to find it.
Answer3:patent firstthen approach stores about stocking your product and get your site running properly aswell--- you may want funding from an investor at this point ---then mass manufacturewait and see what happens
      Answer4:One is a start.
Answer5:I dont see a problem with selling it from your site. Many websites market only one product...think of all the "Learn How To" courses that are out there.Get it on your site, go to flea markets and do demos, perhaps home shows, see if you can get on your local news channel (or in the paper) as a "local inventor creates...Give several away (or lend for x days) to users and ask for testimonials
Answer6:Dear Friend,I am looking for some partners to join hands to achieve win-win cooperation. I wonder if you have interest in running your own Interracial dating site or work-at-home business. I would like to set it up for you at no cost . You can earn money if you can get users registering at your dating site. Please feel free to contact me marketingmanager008@gmail.com for details.DaveMarketing representative
Answer7:Hi there,Every Business has to start somewhere and I believe you are right to concentrate on your first product at this stage. As an Internet Marketer I know of people that have only had 1 product and gone onto make hundreds of thousands of £$.If you would like to know a bit more by all means take a visit to the source below.I wish you every luck with your venture - the only way to safeguard your future is to own your own Business.RegardsJon Lake

I need some advise on opening a small coffee shop

I dont have any start up so need to go in the way of loans or grants. I do have experience in running a business as well as the accounting aspect of things. Can anyone give me some ideas on what my first steps should be?
Answer1:you need to draw up a business plan. Do you have a location? Survey of prospective customers?
Answer2:Call your local small business association (SBA) they are a federal program and helped us a lot when we had to get a loan. They actually were able to guarantee 85% of the loan.
Answer3:Aah, coffee shop yum...my favorite hot beverage everyday I cannot live without it. So anyway, First if you have enough money for the expenses or how much loan has been approved, second the location very important if its a business oriented location or site close by any residential area Im sure your coffee shop will be successful, Third hiring the right people to work for you, fourth put up some goodies like cookies, bagels any thing that goes with coffee. and of course dont forget the insurance that can cover your business. If you are ready, a business minded gal :), your money is good then go for it...hail to the coffee drinkers thats me.
Answer4:write a business plan. there are many templates available online. its kinda of text-book-ish, but it makes you think about all areas of your business in which you may not have thought of yet. that will give you an idea of how much money you need. next, apply for a loan. if you can borrow from family members, thats better b/c you will save on interest. then, you need to apply for you city business license (which you will just call your city to ask what the fees are and where to get an application), a business license with your state, and a health inspection (which will give you a health permit). good luck!

How can I go about opening up a small diner

I would love to open up a small restaurant in my town; diner-style, catering to the baby boomers, older folks & diner-lovers alike; There is a small building for sale in my (small) town that was previously a bar. It was a crappy bar catering basically only to the motorcycle people. The hours were also horrible & so was the food. So I am not surprised it went under. Anyway, I think a diner could really take off because we dont have one yet in my small town. I do not want to just make money, I want to help my town with a resturaunt that is muchly needed. It is also kind of becoming a dream of mine. Any advice greatly appreciated, especiallly from anyone who has gone through something similar or opened any small businesses. Yes, I DO know it would NOT be easy. But How do I go about getting money? Take out loans? where do I start? I am very serious about this idea. I am a 21 year old college student getting a degree in Commercial Advertising (for photography). I will be graduating in May. I do not have a lot of money to go around. Thanks for input, again it will be greatly appreciated!.--Answer1:First, write a business plan which describes what you are going to do, how you will promote it, who your customers are, competition, etc. There are many templates on the web to do this. Even if its just few pages, this is your map.If you cant describe on paper what your diner is, how you will operate, how and who you will market to, how you plan to pay for everything, then you should not even attempt it.Create financial projections in a spreadsheet. There are many expenses to consider and to project. If you have a local Chamber of Commerce, they can be helpful and check out www.score.org for help by people experienced in the restaurant industry.Ive been a multi-unit restaurant owner ... do not underestimate the work involved. This is typically a 7 day a week, 12+ hour a day business. Very challenging. Make sure you have a good map to start and be realistic with your financial projections.
