I am the business manager of a pop/rock band that is looking for private investors (opposed to the traditional record label model). We are set up as an LLC, and am currently working on a business plan, but dont really have any ideas of how/where to find investors for such a venture. Our music is mainstream and radio ready. We have had reasonable success as a band so far (10,000 cds sold, large local following, multiple placements of our songs on popular television shows, sponsorships, etc.). There are a number of labels interested as well, but none that could offer us the flexibility and security that we are looking for.Any ideas?.--Answer1:There are several things you can do to locate potential investors. Before you do put together an investor package that will show them why this isnt an off-the-wall project. Your package should emphasize the commercial success you have had to date. (You might luck out and find a music lover to finance you, but it is more likely that you will be dealing with someone who is looking for a place to put their money and get a good return and doesnt care if you play Rap or Bach. Some things to do:1) Advertise in the Sunday classified section of the nearest big city newspaper.2) Advertise on Craigs List3) Talk to friends and relatives and ask them if they know of anyone who might be interested in a profitable investment.4) Talk to your banker. No, the bank isnt interested, but your banker may know someone who is.Hope this helpsJerry-the-bookkeeper
