Answer1:I dated a guy who had his own business, and I figured, well, he can do it, so I can too. Then I found two organizations that would be my clients, and I figured it would be like having two part-time jobs, or Id just call myself a consultant.Its hard sometimes, and lonely, too. I found that being part of a Mastermind group, where I meet with other business owners, really helps? I also took a self-employment training class and that was very helpful, too. Knowledge really is power.

I just dont get it. I have stepped up at my job in many different ways, but recently found out my co-worker who is equal in education and has been at the place of work a year less than me, makes $1 more an hour than me. I do more than she does. Im reliable and rarely call off, but she does all the time. I train people and am assigned interns, etc... Yet she makes more. Why would my boss be ok with this??? I guess Im just frustrated because this is the second time this has happened. (The first time, my other co-worker quit.) Now, with the recession, I look like a jerk asking for a raise when 3 people were laid off last month. I should be happy I have a job, I suppose. It is just a sh*tty situation. SIGH!

That would be considered a gift to you, and you dont have to report it.If theyre actually giving you a payment in return for some sort of goods or services, though, then that is INCOME, and yes, you have to report every penny of it. The only way money given is considered a "donation" is if its being given to a registered non-profit charity. I doubt thats the case here.

My boss had a kick butt business. He listened to his "friend" who he hired. (who is a "me" person, a "know it all" and somewhat of a control freak) In the two years hes there, our customer base has dropped enormously, some wont come in at all because hes there.... He convinced my boss to "star" items from the menu, jack up the prices on everything else, because "volume doesnt matter"...which I think is a load of you know what. You dont mark everything up 300 % to get 50 people to buy that item, you make a decent profit to get the 150-200 people in the door like it used to be....We used to go through 50-70 steaks on Thurs nights. Now were lucky if we sell 25. Price is absurd. And we live in a small town, so news travels like lightning speed. The only thing saving his behind right now, is we have great pizza, and serve Beer and Booze... (but, weve lost customers because our beer is the highest around and people dont like the "friend") Which personally, Friends and Business, unless you are damn lucky and have that really good one, just DO NOT MIX) He gets a paycheck for doing next to nothing, and boss I suppose feels sorry for him because thats all he has after bankrupting his own business, TWICE!!! Opening a bar or a restaurant or combined both would be (in my small brain) suicidal at this point in history. But their are always needs for new and better pizzas, sauces and meatballs. The fact is finding a niche dinner house in the right place with the right food, ambiance and location is the dream of millions. If you open a bar there will be bar flies (regulars who will be there every day unaware that they are ruining the customers dining experience by being drunk and disorderly) open the bistro serve wine and beer without a bar.....
My friend and I had an idea for a tea shop. We would call it Pups and Cups, where people could bring their dogs for a tea party. There would be tea and snacks for the humans, and warm chicken/beef broth and dog biscuits for the dogs. And another random idea I had, would be to have a little boutique in the tea shop, where we would sell things for both dogs and humans. And in the boutique we would sell stationary with flavored envelopes, and have a flavor that both dogs and humans could enjoy... that way you wouldnt have to taste that nasty envelope glue when sending letters.I know this is silly and random, but I thought it sounded like kind of a good idea. And also keep in mind that if we do it, it wont be anytime soon since we are only 18.
